چکیده

The Poisson boundary of a group G with a probability measure μ on it is the space of ergodic components of the time shift in the path space of the associated random walk. Via a generalization of the classical Poisson formula it gives an integral representation of bounded μ-harmonic functions on G. In this paper we develop a new method of identifying the Poisson boundary based on entropy estimates for conditional random walks. It leads to simple purely geometric criteria of boundary maximality which bear hyperbolic nature and allow us to identify the Poisson boundary with natural topological boundaries for several classes of groups: word hyperbolic groups and discontinuous groups of isometries of Gromov hyperbolic spaces, groups with infinitely many ends, cocompact lattices in Cartan–Hadamard manifolds, discrete subgroups of semi-simple Lie groups, polycyclic groups, some wreath and semi-direct products including Baumslag–Solitar groups.

Poisson kernels of half–spaces in real hyperbolic spaces

We provide an integral formula for the Poisson kernel of half-spaces for Brownian motion in real hyperbolic space Hn. This enables us to find asymptotic properties of the kernel. Our starting point is the formula for its Fourier transform. When n = 3, 4 or 6 we give an explicit formula for the Poisson kernel itself. In the general case we give various asymptotics and show convergence to the Poi...

A Poisson Summation Formula and Lower Bounds for Resonances in Hyperbolic Manifolds

For convex co-compact hyperbolic manifolds of even dimension n + 1, we derive a Poisson-type formula for scattering resonances which may be regarded as a version of Selberg's trace formula for these manifolds. Using techniques of Guillop e and Zworski we easily obtain anO R n+1 lower bound for the counting function for scattering resonances together with other lower bounds for the counting func...

An Extension of Poincare Model of Hyperbolic Geometry with Gyrovector Space Approach

‎The aim of this paper is to show the importance of analytic hyperbolic geometry introduced in [9]‎. ‎In [1]‎, ‎Ungar and Chen showed that the algebra of the group $SL(2,mathbb C)$ naturally leads to the notion of gyrogroups ‎and gyrovector spaces for dealing with the Lorentz group and its ‎underlying hyperbolic geometry‎. ‎They defined the Chen addition and then Chen model of hyperbolic geomet...

Optical properties of a semi-infinite medium consist of graphene based hyperbolic meta-materials with tilted optical axis

In this paper, the  optical properties of a semi-infinite medium composed of graphen-based hyperbolic meta-materials with the optical axis were tilted with respect to its boundary with air, by using the  Maxwell equations; then  the homogeneous effective medium approximation method was  studied. The results showed that the orientation of the structure layers (geometric induced anisotropy) affec...

In this paper two Poisson structures on the moduli space of hyperbolic surfaces with conical points are compared: the Weil-Petersson one and the η coming from the representation variety. We show that they are multiple of each other, if the angles do not exceed 2π. Moreover, we exhibit an explicit formula for η in terms of hyperbolic lengths of a suitable system of arcs.
